Welcome to the Team: Akshay Singh Yadav Joins the Chair of Energy Economics!
We are excited to welcome a new researcher to our dynamic team at the Chair of Energy Economics. Akshay Singh Yadav joined us as a Research Associate on December 1st, 2025. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, which gives him a solid understanding of energy fundamentals, and a Master’s degree in Computational Modelling in Energy Economics. He recently defended his Master’s thesis on shared offshore generation and transmission infrastructure planning in the Baltic Sea region—a topic at the very heart of Europe’s energy transition. He has also contributed to an academic research project on applying chance-constrained N-1 security criteria to the German high-voltage transmission grid, aiming to optimise grid security and reduce congestion management costs.
Akshay will pursue his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Dominik Möst within the Electricity Market group led by Dr. Hannes Hobbie. His primary focus will be on the project “System Integration Offshore Wind Energy (SOffie)”. In this project, he will investigate key issues surrounding offshore energy hubs and market coupling, as he explains in his own words:
“The chance to translate complex computational models into real-world policy recommendations for offshore wind integration is exactly the kind of impactful work I am passionate about. I’m eager to collaborate with the EE2 team here in Dresden and contribute to solving some of the most pressing energy challenges of our time.”
The entire team at the Chair of Energy Economics extends a very warm welcome to Akshay. We are confident that his skills, fresh perspectives, and enthusiasm will be an asset to our research community. We look forward to supporting his PhD journey and are excited to see the innovative contributions he will make to the SOffie project and beyond.
