Research Topics in Energy Economics
Energy economics winter seminar
Contents
The module "Research Topics in Energy Economics" is a catalog module at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics and can be taken in the Bachelor's, Master's and Diploma programs. The module aims to address current topics in the energy industry and to work on these using scientific literature and methods. For this purpose, a seminar paper is written and assessed as an individual achievement. Depending on the desired degree (BA/MA/DIPL), different requirements are placed on the thesis.
In the winter semester 2026/2027, the module will be offered as a cross-university winter seminar of the Chair of Energy Economics at TU Dresden,
the Chair of Circular Economy and Sustainability Assessment at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Chairs of Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Management and of Innovation and Risk Management at the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg (TUBAF).
Current topic: Energy industry, industrial value creation and resilience in the context of the European Clean Industrial Deal
The winter seminar "Energy Economy, Industrial Value Creation and Resilience in the Context of the European Clean Industrial Deal" deals with the current challenges of the transformation of the European economy. In the face of rising energy prices, geopolitical uncertainties and ambitious climate targets, Europe is faced with the task of ensuring decarbonization, competitiveness and security of supply at the same time.
The European Clean Industrial Deal provides a strategic framework for this, linking energy, industrial and climate policy. The focus is particularly on the impact of energy policy measures on industrial value creation, energy prices, the circular economy and the resilience of energy systems and supply chains. Both market-based and regulatory instruments play an important role here.
The seminar is offered across universities by the Chair of Energy Economics at TUD Dresden University of Technology, the Chair of Circular Economy and Sustainability Assessment at TUD Dresden University of Technology Munich and the Chairs of Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Management and of Innovation and Risk Management at TUD Dresden University of Technology Freiberg. By bundling these different specialist areas, energy management, circular economy, industrial economics and sustainability-related perspectives are linked in a targeted manner. This cross-university collaboration makes it possible to examine the European Clean Industrial Deal from an energy, sustainability, circular economy, business and innovation perspective.
The attendance week of the seminar will take place from 02.01.2027 to 09.01.2027 in the Söllerhaus in the heart of the Kleinwalsertal ski area (Austria).
