Celebrating 20 Years of ENERDAY: Two Decades of International Research, Innovation, and Progress on the Path to Climate Neutrality
Friday, 27th March 2026
Technische Universität Dresden, Dresden, Germany
The upcoming jubilee edition of ENERDAY26 will explore both the achievements of more than 20 years of dedicated research in energy economics and the continuing need for action, with fewer than 20 years remaining to achieve the ambitious target of climate neutrality in 2045. Key questions include: How can the energy sector ensure a reliable and affordable supply while integrating a high share of renewable energy sources? How can electrification further expand the use of renewable energy sources and replace fossil molecules? What are competitive solutions for the heat transition and the decarbonization of buildings? How can sustainable mobility be promoted and the challenges in the transport sector addressed? What measures can drive the transformation of the industrial sector towards greater sustainability and innovation? Discussions will also examine how energy markets can accelerate a sustainable energy transition and drive innovations in energy technologies, including the use of artificial intelligence.
Ahead of the conference, we are pleased to offer a PhD Workshop on Web Scraping with Python, one of the most successful and best-attended workshops at the Faculty of Business and Economics, TU Dresden. Participants will learn to extract and structure real-world data for research purposes, gaining hands-on experience with Python libraries, APIs, and practical applications.

Evening Events
In the spirit of its long-standing tradition, the conference provides a platform for sharing experiences and engaging in discussion with international representatives from science, industry and politics on current topics in the field of energy economics and technology. Since ENERDAY has always been a suitable framework for social and scientific exchange, we offer the opportunity to participate in a pre-conference dinner (26th March, 2026) and/or a gala-dinner (27th March, 2026), which are covered by the conference fees. In order to avoid subsequent organisational inconveniences, we kindly ask you to announce your participation already during the registration process. You can select either both, only one or no event in which you plan to participate.
Call for Abstracts
For the 20th anniversary of ENERDAY, we invite you to be part of this special edition. Over the past two decades, ENERDAY has evolved into a forum for researchers and practitioners in energy economics, systems, and policy. The jubilee conference will celebrate this shared journey, while also looking ahead to the next milestones in the next 20 years on the path toward climate neutrality by 2045. Submit your paper and be part of the dialogue in this special edition of our conference! (Call for Abstracts).
ENERDAY26 aims to advance the development of a resilient and sustainable energy system that meets future demands while supporting decarbonization across all sectors. The conference will address pressing issues in energy systems, markets and policies, reflecting on two decades of research and innovation and charting the path to climate neutrality. We invite contributions that explore empirical analysis, numerical modelling, best-practice examples, policy and market design innovations, and technological advances. Special emphasis will be placed on fostering dialogue between the economic and technical dimensions of energy systems. Contributions - whether theoretical or applied - may address, but are not limited to, the following topics::
|
I. Sector-specific focus and best practices |
II. Cross-sectoral innovations and system transformation |
