A New Multi-Echelon Multi-Product Supply Chain Logistics Model
On Thursday, 14 March 2019, Prof. Bahram Alidaee (University of Mississippi) gave a talk on the topic „A New Multi-Echelon Multi-Product Supply Chain Logistics Model“. The presented model considers a supply chain with several manufacturers and retailers as well as warehouses and customers. The latter have the opportunity to purchase differently composed product bundles. Due to the various links within the supply chain, a complex optimization problem results, the objective of which was to minimize the overall costs. In addition to an exact solution using a MIP formulation, the focus was also on a heuristic solution method, a tabu search algorithm, which showed impressive results. After the talk a detailed discussion took place.
Subsequently, the chair Industrial Management presented various research projects and first concrete considerations for a joint article were made. The evening ended with a dinner at the restaurant Carolaschlösschen. On Friday there was a campus tour followed by a city sightseeing tour.
