The chair on tour at conferences
In the last weeks, several chair members participated in different conferences to discuss the current research results with the OR community and bring new impulses from presentations back to Dresden.
The first was this year's German Society for Operations Research conference, which took place in Hamburg on 29.08. - 01.09.2023. This year, our chair was represented with five presentations:
- Florian Linß presented the results of a research project with our Distinguished Research Fellow Mike Hewitt in a presentation on "Order acceptance and scheduling in capacitated job stores".
- Janis Neufeld presented results from an industry project with Deutsche Bahn in his presentation entitled "Data-driven identification and quantification of influencing factors for robust planning in rail passenger transport".
- Nadine Schiebold presented research results on "Optimization of the spare parts supply for outstations in aviation industry", Benedikt Zipfel gave a presentation on "A MIP-based comparison of standard scheduling approaches for planning in additive manufacturing environments".
One week later, the 14th edition of the International Conference on Computational Logistics followed. From September 06 to 08, numerous exciting presentations around the topic "The Future of Transport" took place in Berlin. Two topics were presented by our chair:
- Paul Päprer presented the initial results of a research project with Austrian Federal Railways entitled "A Bi-Objective Column Generation Approach for Real-World Rolling Stock Circulation Planning Problems."
- Florian Linß gave a presentation on "A Constraint Programming Model for the Vehicle Routing Problem with Multiple Time Windows."
From September 11 to 13 the Forstwissenschaftliche Tagung, the largest forestry conference in the German-speaking area, took place in Dresden. Our chair used the opportunity to present the EU project ONEforest.
Maria Beranek gave a presentation on "Multikriterielle Entscheidungs-unterstützung für die Forstwirtschaft unter Berücksichtigung räumlicher Wechselwirkungen".
