Doctoral course on the topic of "Operational Research Methods for Mobility"
Operational Research Methods for Mobility
On June 1 and 2, we had the pleasure of welcoming Beartriz Oliveira from the University of Porto to Dresden as part of the “Saxon Doctoral Program in Management Research.” In an intensive doctoral course on “Operational Research Methods for Mobility” participants gained deep insights into the mathematical optimization of modern mobility systems.
An overview of the course’s core content:
- Modeling complex mobility problems using mixed-integer programming (MIP).
- Integrating concepts from discrete choice modeling to incorporate demand responses into optimization-based decision-making.
- Application of multi-criteria optimization to analyze trade-offs between costs and service quality.
In addition to the intensive academic work in the seminar room, there was, of course, plenty of time for personal interaction. The visit provided the perfect opportunity to deepen shared research interests and further strengthen collaboration with the Chair of Industrial Management.
Moreover, since networking also takes place outside the university, there was plenty of time to explore Dresden together, visit the Semperoper, and meet esteemed colleagues such as Janis Neufeld and Nikola Bešinović.
A big thank you to Beatriz Oliveira for this fantastic course, the valuable input, and the great time we spent together! We are already looking forward to our next joint projects.
