Teaching in the winter semester 2024 / 2025

In the winter semester 2024 / 2025 the following courses are offered at the Chair of Industrial Management. The enrollments in OPAL start (if not stated otherwise) on 01.10.2024 at 09:00. Further details can be obtained by clicking on the name of the respective course and in the respective OPAL courses.

Lectures:

• Einführung in die Produktion: In this course, knowledge of production and cost theory is taught and theoretical foundations for the analysis of production processes and cost changes are created. You will receive the documents after successful registration via OPAL at the beginning of the semester.
• Inventory Management: This English-language course focuses on the economic analysis of industrial production, remanufacturing and transfer processes. Mainly on the basis of cost-oriented inventory models, recommendations are derived for the most efficient control of the flow of goods. You will receive the documents after enrolling via OPAL at the beginning of the semester.
• Strategisches Produktionsmanagement: This course is dedicated to strategic program, potential and process design. In addition to some fundamentals of strategic management, strategic development planning, site selection, layout planning, and configuration of flow production systems will be covered. You will receive the material after enrolling via OPAL at the beginning of the semester.
• Simulation und Modellierung: This course teaches the fundamentals of modeling and conducting simulation studies. A special focus is put on discrete-event simulation in order to subsequently model queueing systems using appropriate software and to analyze or optimize them using simulation methods. You will receive the documents after enrolling via OPAL at the beginning of the semester.

Seminars:

• Aktuelle Forschungsfragen des IM and Aktuelle Forschungsfragen des OR: In this course you will write a seminar paper of 25 pages on a selected topic of industrial management or operations research and present your results in a lecture at the end. Interested students please enroll in OPAL during 01.10.-17.10.24 (including submission of a transcript of grades). The kick-off meeting will be held on 18.10.24 / 10:30 in room HÜL N509.
• Bachelorseminar: This module and the seminar paper of 20 pages on topics of industrial management provided therein serve as preparation for the preparation of a bachelor thesis. Interested students please enroll in OPAL during the period 01.10.-17.10.24 (including submission of a transcript of grades). The kick-off meeting will take place on 18.10.24 / 11:10 in room HÜL N509.

• WPA-Seminar: In this seminar, you will learn about the requirements for a scientific paper and apply the acquired knowledge in a 10-page seminar paper. The allocation of places to the seminar is done centrally by the faculty. You can enroll in OPAL from 20.09. - 20.10.2024 and indicate your preferred focus via a survey there. Students assigned to our department will start following the distribution with a kick-off meeting on 23.10.2024 at 13:00.

• WPA-Projekt Excel: In this seminar you will get to know the software MS Excel by means of interactive exercises on the PC. Content will include knowledge on basics to using the Excel solver for solving mathematical optimization problems. The enrollment (for all WPA projects) will take place centrally in OPAL from 14.10.-30.10.24. The project will be conducted digitally.
• Instrumente und Anwendungen des IM: In this course, knowledge is imparted on the one hand to be able to prepare scientific papers with LaTeX. In addition, there will be an introduction to the software Gurobi, which can be used to solve mathematical optimization problems. Enrollment is possible via OPAL.

Methodological Basics:

• Umsetzung quantitativer Methoden der BWL mit R: The course from the section "Methodological Foundations" is dedicated to the programming language R, an open source software for (statistical) data analysis and graphics. Besides the basics and the structure of the language, especially the application of this language in a scientific paper will be focused on. Enrollment is possible via OPAL from 14.10.24 / 09:00.
