Teaching in the winter semester 2025 / 2026
The following courses will be offered at the Chair of Industrial Management in the winter semester 2025 / 2026. Registration in OPAL starts on 01.10.2025 at 09:00. Further details can be found by clicking on the name of the respective course and in the respective OPAL courses.
Lectures:
-
Einführung in die Produktion: This course provides knowledge of production and cost theory as well as the theoretical basis for analyzing production processes and cost changes. You will receive the documents via OPAL at the beginning of the semester once you have enrolled.
-
Inventory Management: This English-language course focuses on the economic analysis of industrial production, remanufacturing and transfer processes. Recommendations for managing the flow of goods as efficiently as possible are derived mainly on the basis of cost-oriented inventory models. You will receive the documents after registering via OPAL at the start of the semester.
-
Strategisches Produktionsmanagement: This course is dedicated to strategic program, potential and process design. In addition to some of the basics of strategic management, strategic development planning, site selection, layout planning and the configuration of flow production systems are covered. You will receive the documents after registering via OPAL at the beginning of the semester.
-
Simulation und Modellierung: This course teaches the basics of modeling and conducting simulation studies. Special emphasis is placed on discrete-event simulation in order to subsequently model queueing systems using appropriate software and to analyze and optimize them with the help of simulation methods. You will receive the documents after registering via OPAL at the beginning of the semester.
Seminars:
-
Aktuelle Forschungsfragen des IM and Aktuelle Forschungsfragen des OR: As part of this course, you will write a seminar paper of 25 pages on a selected topic in industrial management or operations research and present your results in a presentation at the end of the course. Interested students should register in OPAL in the period from 01.10.-16.10.25 (including submission of a transcript of records). The kick-off event will take place on 17.10.25 / 10:30 a.m. in room TIL 201.
- Bachelorseminar: This module and the 20-page seminar paper on industrial management topics are intended as preparation for writing a Bachelor's thesis. Interested students should register in OPAL in the period from 01.10.-16.10.25 (incl. submission of a transcript of records). The kick-off event will take place on 17.10.25 / 11:10 a.m. in room TIL 201.
- WPA Seminar: In this seminar you will learn about the requirements for a scientific paper and apply the acquired knowledge in a 10-page seminar paper. The allocation of places for the seminar is done centrally by the faculty. You can register in OPAL until 17.10.2025 and indicate your preferred focus via a survey. The students assigned to our chair will start after the allocation with a kick-off event on 29.10.2025 at 13:00.
- WPA-Projekt Excel: In this seminar you will get to know the MS Excel software by means of interactive exercises on the PC. In terms of content, you will learn the basics and how to use the Excel solver to solve mathematical optimization problems. Enrolment (for all WPA projects) takes place centrally in OPAL from 06.10.-19.10.25. The project will be carried out digitally.
- Instrumente und Anwendungen des IM: In this course, students will learn how to write scientific papers with LaTeX. In addition, students will be introduced to the Gurobi software, which can be used to solve mathematical optimization problems. Enrolment is possible via OPAL.
- Wissenschaftliche Anwendungen mit R: This course is dedicated to the programming language R, an open source software for (statistical) data analysis and graphics. In addition to the basics and the structure of the language, the focus is on the application of the language in a scientific paper. Enrolment is possible via OPAL.
