CONTENTS

The research seminar is offered in both summer and winter semester and includes the writing of a scientific paper, the presentation of the most important results as well as a topic-related discussion with fellow students and the staff of the chair. The topics are based on the research focus of the chair.

• The written work consists of 40 text pages and includes a scientific discussion of the problem as well as the most important study results. A comprehensive, independent literature research in German and English is mandatory.
• The presentation of the seminar papers lasts 30 minutes and reflects the problem, the objective and the main results of the written work. The presentation is followed by a 20-minute discussion.
• For this purpose, a one- to two-page abstract containing the essential information on your seminar paper (motivation, objectives, course of the examination) must be written in German.
• In addition, two or three theses should be formulated in the abstract, which serve as a basis for the subsequent discussion.

By participating in the research seminar 10 credit points can be acquired.

In the winter semester, the seminar will take place as a block event at the university (topic presentation and start of application in mid-June, topic assignment around mid-July, submission in October, presentation in November).

In the summer semester, the introduction of the topic and the start of the application process takes place in mid-January, the topic is assigned in mid-February, the application is submitted in May and the presentation in June. For the presentation of the results in the summer semester, the participants and the chair team will travel to a vacation accommodation in Saxon Switzerland. During the four-day event, the seminar participants present their previously written papers. In addition to the intensive scientific examination of various current topics and the professional discussion with fellow students and lecturers, the main seminar offers the opportunity to get in contact with other students and the chair staff outside the lecture halls. In a relaxed atmosphere, study and leisure time can be combined. In addition to a hike, the obligatory table tennis competitions and the evening campfire, there is also an annual company tour in the regional surroundings.
