Our application for the Jackstädt International Teaching Grants has been approved!
We are very grateful to announce the great news: our application for the "Jackstädt International Teaching Grants" from Dr. Werner Jackstädt-Stiftung has been approved!
Together with Prof. Dr. Namchul Shin from Pace University, New York, Prof. Dr. Remmer Sassen has applied for Jackstädt International Teaching Grants, which aim to foster the German university's internationalization by integrating international lectures with intensive block seminars. They have proposed an interesting block course, "GIS Applications and AI Integration," that Prof. Dr. Namchul Shin plans to hold at TU Dresden in January, 2027, and it has recently been accepted. Below, you can find a short course description regarding the block course "GIS Applications and AI Integration".
Course Description: The course introduces innovative applications of Geographic
Information Systems (GIS) with a strong emphasis on solving real-world business and
societal challenges. Rather than treating GIS as a standalone technical tool, the course
frames GIS as an integrated system for addressing complex problems such as
sustainability, urban planning, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. A distinctive feature of the course is its systems architecture perspective, which
situates GIS within a broader ecosystem of data pipelines, analytics, and artificial
intelligence.
We are very glad to be able to welcome Prof. Dr. Namchul Shin again to TU Dresden for the academic visist and exchange. More information regarding the upcoming block course will be followed up.
