Prof. Samanthi Dijkstra-Silva and Magdalena Müller Visit the Brussels School of Governance
João Teixeira de Freitas, Dr. Liliana Lizarazo-Rodriguez, Magdalena Müller, Prof. Samanthi Dijkstra-Silva (v.l.n.r.)
From 12 to 15 October 2026, Prof. Samanthi Dijkstra-Silva visited Dr. Liliana Lizarazo-Rodriguez, Research Professor of Sustainable Development Law at the Brussels School of Governance of Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). The visit was made possible by EUTOPIA Seed Funding, which aims to strengthen collaboration between researchers at VUB and TU Dresden (TUD). Together with their doctoral researchers, Magdalena Müller (TUD) and João Teixeira de Freitas (VUB), the researchers took the opportunity to engage in intensive academic exchange.
The collaboration is motivated by the growing prominence of sustainability-related litigation against businesses and evolving legal frameworks, including due diligence obligations along global supply chains. These developments raise important interdisciplinary questions: How does litigation affect businesses and their sustainability practices? And can it drive corporate transformation towards sustainable development?
During their meeting in Brussels, the researchers discussed potential research avenues at the intersection of law and sustainability management to guide their future collaboration.
We thank the EUTOPIA European University Alliance for supporting the visit!
