Positive feedback on the seminar "Development and evaluation of learning environments" with LEGO® Serious Play®
LEGO® Serious Play®
In the winter semester 2025/26, students in the seminar "Development and Evaluation of Learning Environments" developed their own training concepts using the creative LEGO® Serious Play® (LSP) method. In the seminar, they worked on the theoretical foundations of LSP from a didactic and neuroscientific perspective and analyzed key tools for training development and evaluation. A guest lecture also offered insights into current challenges and trends in the current course operation and continuing education market.
The students report on their initial findings:
"To be honest, at the beginning I thought, 'Are we in kindergarten?' But after the first exercise, in which we described ourselves and developed a business model, the benefits quickly became clear."
"LEGO® Serious Play® showed me how powerful visualization and clarity can be. The haptic work appeals to so many areas of the brain that the content is still firmly anchored today."
"The method helps to make complex thoughts visible and to develop a deeper understanding than in traditional discussions."
The practical work with LEGO® was also particularly appreciated:
"A particular added value was that we were able to try out LEGO® Serious Play® ourselves and experience the practical benefits directly."
"As a Business Administration student, it was exciting to work with a didactically sound and creative method for the first time."
"It is a pleasure to see how new methods such as LEGO can enrich the teaching of learning content, motivate students and promote creative problem solving, " says Dr. Ianina Scheuch. "Many thanks to everyone involved for the exciting seminar and the consistently positive feedback from the students!"
