The success of populist parties is on the rise - in Germany, Europe and beyond. What makes populist movements so successful? Which voters do they appeal to? Which explanatory approaches are underpinned by hard empirical evidence?
Christian Leßmann discusses these old questions with young researchers from the fields of political science and economics. Jacob Edenhofer is a doctoral student in political science at the University of Oxford and conducts research in the field of political economy and climate policy. Julius Kölzer is also a doctoral student in political science (HU Berlin) and guest author for ZEIT. Luisa Dörr is a PostDoc at the ifo Institute and conducts research in the field of political economy and finance.
