Resource Economics and Environmental Policy
General information
You will receive further information about the course (start etc.) during our introductory event on 08.04.2025 in the 4th DS (13:00 - 14:30) in GÖR/127.
The schedule of the lecture (and exercises) as well as all documents will be provided in OPAL
- Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Dominik Möst
- Contact person: Andreas Büttner
- In case of non-participation in the exam / project or failure to pass it, the exam can only be repeated in SoSe 2026. At this point in time, all internal examination prerequisites must be completed again.
Students know and have mastered the theory of exhaustible resources. They are able to answer questions about market and price structures on commodity markets and to apply and critically reflect on optimization methods in the energy industry.
The course consists of three learning dimensions:
- Theory: in weekly lectures, Prof. Möst presents the contents of the course. The lecture slides are then made available in OPAL (examination: written exam).
- Exercises: Exercises tailored to the lecture content are made available in OPAL and their solutions are shown in the exercise. In addition, the contents of the lectures will be deepened in the context of discussions of specialist papers (examination: paper discussion).
- Project work: Methods of operations research are applied to the content of the lecture, in particular the mapping and analysis of resource markets. The work is carried out in groups of three to four people and is supported by the course supervisors in consultations. (Examination: submission and presentation of the project work)
