Renewal of the PC pools at the Faculty of Business and Economics
During the summer semester break, the computer science lab was due for a comprehensive modernization: The PCs in the SCH A.200b and B.250 pools, whose devices dated back to 2015, had to be replaced due to their age. Thanks to the provision of faculty funds, a total of 31 new PCs were procured and integrated into teaching operations. The computers were brought up to date technically: all PCs are now equipped with Windows 11. Central software distribution is carried out via Baramundi, which enables efficient and uniform management of all devices.
The use of the pools was also adapted as part of the renovation:
- The number of pools intended for teaching purposes has been reduced from four to three rooms (SCH A.200a, A.200b and B.247).
- The former pool SCH B.250 will be used as a student workroom in future. There are still 8 PC workstations available there, supplemented by 14 monitor workstations designed for students' own notebooks.
From the winter semester 2025/2026, the computer science laboratory will no longer be responsible for opening and closing the PC pools for courses, but the respective lecturers. They will be closed via the Chair's transponders.
With this reorganization, we are pursuing the goal of using the available resources efficiently, providing the best possible support for teaching and at the same time creating new, flexible work opportunities for students.
