Sabrina Schmidt presents current research at NEST and IST 2025
In summer 2025, Sabrina Schmidt represented the Junior Professorship for Sustainability Assessment and Policy at two major international conferences of the Sustainability Transitions research community.
At the end of May, she attended the 10th Annual NEST Conference in Brighton, hosted by the Science Policy and Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex. There, she presented the new joint research project with Jun.-Prof. Dr. Samanthi Dijkstra-Silva, The Formalization of Transition Pathways. The open exchange with fellow early career researchers and senior SPRU scholars proved particularly valuable, providing constructive feedback for further developing the project.
In June, she presented the advanced project Navigating Sustainability Crossroads: A Configurational Analysis of Incumbent Firms’ Responses to Transitions at the 16th International Sustainability Transitions (IST) Conference in Lisbon. This research is conducted jointly with Lea Stöber (University of Hohenheim) and Jun.-Prof. Dr. Samanthi Dijkstra-Silva. A highlight was the Paper Development Workshop organized by NEST, which provided highly valuable feedback for refining the paper.
As part of the IST conference, Sabrina Schmidt also co-organized and co-hosted a meeting of the NEST Group on Complexity Modelling in Sustainability Transitions together with Daniel Guzzo (Technical University of Denmark). The meeting offered an excellent platform for exchanging ideas on agent-based modelling and other modelling approaches in sustainability transitions research.
