Welcome to the homepage of the Chair of Economics, esp. International Monetary Economics
In teaching and research, we focus on international aspects of the financial system. Topics include financial stability, exchange rates, monetary policy, and international investment decisions. The relevance of international monetary economics is underscored by the increasing interdependence of macroeconomic and financial aspects in the wake of the globalization of financial and goods markets. These current issues give rise to numerous economic policy challenges, for example in the regulation of the financial system or monetary policy.
Current research topics include:
- Currency risk and the pricing of American Depositary Receipts
- Political risk and the pricing and asset allocation of sovereign bonds
- Market based models of bank default risk
- Central transparency and international investment
- Voting behavior in monetary policy committees
Our bachelor's program offers the introductory course “Einführung in die Makroökonomie” plus the lectures “Geld und Währung” and “Geldpolitik". In the master's program Public and International Economics, we offer lectures on “International Financial Markets” and “Exchange Rates” as well as seminars.
