LaMaCe Project Meeting in Warsaw
From 7–8 May 2026, the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) hosted the second project meeting as part of the LaMaCe (Labor Markets in Central Europe in Challenging Times) project, which is funded by the DFG and GACR.
The TUD project team, consisting of Prof. Dr. Kamila Cygan-Rehm and Maike Steffen, met with colleagues from the participating institutions in the Czech Republic and Poland. They discussed the current status of the subprojects and planned the next steps. The work currently focuses on two areas: first, researching the long-term consequences of the sharp increase in remote work on the labor market trajectories of those affected; and second, examining the effects of the wave of Ukrainian refugees on the local workforce in the affected countries.
During an international workshop featuring presentations by Joanna Clifton-Sprigg (University of Bath), Sunčica Vujić (University of Antwerp), Tomáš Lichard (Prague University of Economics and Business), Maike Steffen (TUD), Peter Siminski (University of Technology Sydney), Marcin Lewandowski (Polish Economic Institute), and Mateusz Smoter (Institute for Structural Research), the two projects were presented to a wider audience.
Many thanks to our host and workshop organizer, Ewa Gałecka-Burdziak. We look forward to the next project meeting at TUD in 2027!
