Report in MDR Sachsenspiegel on the lecture by Prof. Dr. Patrick Zschech at Radebeul grammar school
On 16.04.2026, Prof. Dr. Patrick Zschech visited his former school, Gymnasium Luisenstift in Radebeul, to introduce the students to the basics of AI, machine learning, artificial neural networks and other machine learning methods, to sensitize them to the use of AI/ML and, of course, to give them an outlook on studying at TU Dresden. The visit was divided into two parts:
- Lecture (grade 11, approx. 80-100 students):
Topic "From Netflix to bank accounts: How machines learn to make decisions" - with everyday examples of how AI works. - Hands-on workshop (basic course in computer science, approx. 20 students):
Under the title "Predictive Modeling in Python: Building Your First Decision Tree", the participants developed their own first machine learning model and then discussed results and challenges.
The project day was accompanied by MDR, which produced a report for the Sachsenspiegel: To the MDR report
