Distinguished Research Fellow, Oliver Krancher (IT University of Copenhagen), visits the Information Systems Group in Dresden in May and June 2025

Gastaufenthalt Prof. Krancher
In 2024, Professor Oliver Krancher from the IT University of Copenhagen in Denmark was awarded a Distinguished Research Fellowship at the Faculty of Business and Economics at TU Dresden. As part of the fellowship, he spent several weeks at TU Dresden in May and June 2025.
During his stay, there was a lively exchange with the members of the Information Systems Group of TU Dresden. This provided the basis for several publication projects on the use of algorithmic management approaches in the context of knowledge work, particularly in software development. For example, Prof. Krancher and Prof. Wiener - together with Prof. Benlian from TU Darmstadt - are working on a project on the question of how the use of various AI tools transforms the daily work of software developers. In practice, both generic AI tools such as ChatGPT or Perplexity and specific tools such as GitHub Copilot are already being used intensively. With the help of a comprehensive interview study, the research team will first conduct exploratory research into how exactly software developers use the above-mentioned tools and what effects this has on their behavior in the workplace and their work results. In a subsequent, large-scale survey, the identified effects will then be deepened and quantified.
We would like to warmly thank Prof. Krancher for his visit to Dresden and look forward to continuing our collaboration with him in the future.
