Successful PHD defense on "Data-Driven Organizations: Conceptual Foundations, Transformation Processes, and Performance Implications"
On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Hannes Fischer successfully defended his dissertation on “Data-Driven Organizations: Conceptual Foundations, Transformation Processes, and Performance Implications” in the ballroom of the Hülße Building at TU Dresden.
In his research, Hannes Fischer addresses the question of how organizations can shape the transition to data-driven decision-making and control processes. Building on his conceptual framework of the Data-Driven Organization (DDO), he conducted several studies to examine the dimensions that characterize a data-driven organization, how companies begin their digital transformation, and what strategies they pursue in the process. His work shows that top managers choose between different starting points and strategic approaches—such as an exploratory or exploitative transformation strategy—and that these decisions significantly influence the course and success of the change. His dissertation thus makes an important contribution to the understanding of digital transformation processes and at the same time offers practical guidance for managers.
We warmly congratulate Hannes Fischer on passing his dissertation defense and wish him every success and all the best for his future career!
