Successful PHD defense on "Algorithmic Management in Different Work Contexts: Implications for Workers and Managers"
On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Isabell Lippert successfully defended her dissertation on the topic “Algorithmic Management in Different Work Contexts: Implications for Workers and Managers” in the ballroom of the „Hülße-Bau“ at TU Dresden.
Algorithmic management refers to the use of algorithms that take over classical management tasks such as coordination and control. Originally developed in the platform context (e.g., Uber, Lieferando), it is increasingly being applied in organizations with traditional hierarchies, such as Amazon. In her dissertation, Isabell Lippert examines which mechanisms can be transferred between these contexts, where boundaries exist, and what consequences they have for the well-being of delivery workers.
We warmly congratulate Isabell Lippert on her successful defense and wish her every success and all the best for the future!
