Short article on “algorithmic management" published in VHB anniversary calendar
The German Academic Association for Business Research (VHB) initiated the anniversary calendar "100 Schlaglichter der BWL" (100 Highlights of Business Administration) as part of its 100th anniversary and invites its members to formulate business administration insights for the future from their research perspective. Since 26.11.2021, interested readers can open a digital "door" every day on a calendar and read exciting and diverse contributions, such as how modern design can be used when working from home, cross-cultural management, or gig work. Prof. Dr. Martin Wiener considers the future of work in his article published on 18.2.2022 on the topic "Algorithmic Management - When Algorithms Become the Boss."
Algorithmic management describes the automation of management tasks, previously performed by managers but now done by intelligent algorithms and associated technologies. With its origins in the platform economy, the practice already has an established application in that sector. Due to the innovative nature of intelligent algorithms that are used and their high effectiveness and efficiency, algorithmic management is increasingly gaining traction in traditional organizations.
