Mapping the gaps in Virtual Collaborative Learning - International Forum in Sarajevo hosted by International Burch University

Titled "Mapping the Gaps in Virtual Collaborative Learning," this two-day event on July 11th and 12th brought together partners and stakeholders from seven countries, including those from the Western Balkan region and the European Union. The primary focus of the forum was to delve into the potential advantages and opportunities offered by Virtual Collaborative Learning methods for universities and their students.
The forum featured distinguished speakers who shared their valuable expertise and insights. Esmir Demaj, PhD, the COWEB Project Manager from EPOKA University, delivered a compelling presentation on "Empowering Education through Digitalization: COWEB in line with EU's Priority for a Digital Future." Prof. Eric Schoop also provided an overview of the VCL concept and its journey, emphasizing key factors crucial for the successful implementation of Virtual Collaborative Learning. Additionally, best practices already applied in EU countries were presented by Mattis Altmann from Technische Universität Dresden, Valentina Ndou from Università del Salento, and Ales Trunk from ISSBS.

This event represented a significant step forward in the ongoing pursuit of innovative educational approaches that prepare students for the rapidly evolving digital landscape. The outcomes of the COWEB project are expected to continue making a positive impact and contribute to shaping the future of higher education and student digital competencies, not only in the region but also in alignment with the EU's priorities for a Digitally Empowered Europe 2030, EC Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027, EC Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans Area, and other relevant initiatives.
