Abstract
Throughout the evolution of knowledge management tools employees’ motivation was always one of the mostrncritical factors for a successful deployment. Recent trends towards enhanced labor mobility and increasinglyrnknowledge-based competition suggest that the task of successfully motivating knowledge workers for anrnactive participation in corporate knowledge management efforts may become even more challenging in thernfuture. The central purpose of this work is to introduce the notion of company-independent and individualfocusedrntools for the management of knowledge as a solution for problems that arise because of the increasedrnneed to motivate knowledge workers.
