Europanetzwerk Deutsch: Visit to the Institute of Biomedical Engineering
Event titled “Digitalization and ‘Artificial Intelligence’: A Menace or a Hope for Modern Medicine”?
On October 27, 2026, Prof. Malberg, Executive Director of the CDD and Chair of Biomedical Engineering at TU Dresden, welcomed twelve participants in an EU course on “Digitalization and Demographics.” The course was aimed at staff members of EU institutions as well as ministry officials from EU member states who deal with issues related to health, data, and digital policy in Europe. The visit was organized by the Goethe Institute Munich as part of the “Europanetzwerk Deutsch” program, which is funded by the Federal Foreign Office.
The event included a lecture followed by a discussion, as well as a guided tour of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering. The focus was on issues related to the nursing crisis, healthcare provision in rural areas, and the use of artificial intelligence, examined from medical, technical-scientific, and patient perspectives. The demonstration of medical technology innovations developed at the Institute itself generated particular interest.
The CDD would like to express its gratitude for the interest and lively exchange and looks forward to future collaborations.
