Leadership
The restart of the Centre for Demographic Change (ZDW) was initiated by Prof. Dr. Gesine Marquardt and Prof. Dr. Jürgen Wegge in the winter semester 2015/16, as that central research unit (founded over 10 years ago) has recently become inactive. By the active assistance of the Centre for Synergy Enhancement (ZSE) the essential steps towards a new center of excellence "Center for Demography and Diversity" (CDD) could be made. Now the centre will progress under the guidance of 7 members of the managing committee and its chairman (Prof. Dr. Jürgen Wegge) and vice chairman (Prof. Dr. Gerhard Weber).

The Centre for Synergy Enhancement (ZSE) sees itself as a "Synergy Engine" of TU Dresden. It initiates and supports the interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge, particularly in the form of events and projects. The target groups are the departments of TU Dresden, the scientific collaboration partners in the DRESDEN-concept and companies. The Centre for Synergy Enhancement offers researchers, scientists and colleagues from different fields a place to discover and process joint topics and research questions.
The Centre for Synergy Enhancement identifies interesting topics for co-operation and creates opportunities to bring together potential collaboration partners. It establishes a basis for understanding through facilitation and visualization techniques, and thus enables a vision to be created for sustaining the interdisciplinary project. The goal is to arrive at innovative solutions by combining knowledge. At the same time, the Centre for Synergy Enhancement researches those methods and factors that make interdisciplinary co-operation successful.
The Centre for Synergy Enhancement is headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gunter Henn, and consists of an interdisciplinary team of five scientific staff members. The Center for Knowledge Architecture, which researches the spatial conditions for knowledge creation, is affiliated to the Centre for Synergy Enhancement.
