Brief CV
Dr. Attiya Khan is a graduate psychologist and health scientist and studied psychology and public health in Oldenburg, the USA and Berlin. After her studies, she worked in cardiological rehabilitation, where she noticed that many patients attributed their illness to their working conditions. In order to work closer to the apparent source, Attiya Khan turned to health promotion in the world of work. She worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Occupational and Social Medicine at the TU Dresden and completed her doctorate. Following a four-year stay in the U.S., she managed workplace health promotion projects, primarily in daycare centers and nursing homes.
From 2015 to 2020, she worked as a consultant in the area of work-related mental stress at the Saxon State Ministry of Economics, Labor and Transport. In the context of pandemic management, Dr. Khan was seconded to the Saxon Ministry of Social Affairs and Cohesion for two years.
There she has lead the Unit of Mental Health Services, Addiction Issues since September 2022.
Main areas of work
As head of the unit, Dr. Khan is responsible for psychiatric care, prevention of mental illness, as well as addiction care and prevention.
