Application Period
The next application period will be opened from April 1 to May 31, 2025 for a start of the program in the winter term 2025/2026.
Application Process
Applicants graduating from non-German institutions must submit their applications through both the CMCB Master's Application Databank and the uni-assist portal!
We will only consider complete applications that have been submitted through both portals.
The application for CMCB Master's programs is an online application. To apply, you need to register in the CMCB Master's Application Databank.

Please fill in the online application with your personal data, background, motivation, interests, etc.
Please make sure to prepare and upload the following documents:
- Photocopy of the first university degree certificate(s) in German or English as well as a translation of the applicant’s university degree certificate(s) in German or English, and transcripts of records.
Note: if you haven't received your degree certificate yet, please upload:- your latest transcripts
- a confirmation from your university listing:
- that you achieved at least 80% of the credits needed for graduation
- the expected overall average grade
- expected graduation date
- Photocopy of the certificate demonstrating the student's proficiency in English.
It can be:- Diploma of the secondary school with an advanced English course
- Diploma of the secondary school fully completed in English
- Diploma of a university degree fully completed in English
- English certificate, e.g.,:
- TOEFL IBT (min. 92),
- IELTS (min. 6.5),
- or comparable certificates.
Applicants whose mother tongue is English are exempt from the obligation to provide proof of English proficiency.
- Two letters of recommendation.
The letter can be written in English or German.
At least one letter should be written by a university teacher. - Photocopies of other certificates proving e.g., supplementary qualifications, extra-curricular achievements and activities, and professional experience that will give information on the student's special aptitude.
- An up to date curriculum vitae (CV)
- A copy of your higher education entrance qualification/school leaving certificate (equivalent of the German Abitur), including the list of grades.
- If you have a degree or are about to get a degree from China, Vietnam or India, you need to provide the APS certificate (Akademische Prüfstelle) from the Academic Evaluation Centre at the German Embassy.
If you are an applicant from a non-German institution, you must additionally apply via the uni-assist portal.
Uni-assist is a service organization supporting the TU Dresden with processing application documents from international applicants. They will check the completeness of your file and validity of your certificates. Without it, your application cannot be considered.
Please note that uni-assist application requires payment of a processing fee. Your application will only be processed after uni-assist has received your payment.
- If you have a degree or are about to get a degree from China, Vietnam or India, you need to provide the APS certificate (Akademische Prüfstelle) from the Academic Evaluation Centre at the German Embassy.
Once you have applied, it's time to sit back and wait for the feedback.
Our selection committee is going to go through all the applications. If you are selected for the next step, you will be notified in June and invited for an online interview that usually takes place at the end of June/beginning of July.
