CRTD Stem Cell Engineering Facility Part of Award-Winning International Research Network
The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) – the world’s largest and most influential stem cell organization – has honored the global networks Stem Cell COREdinates and CorEuStem with its 2026 Public Service Award. As an active member of CorEuStem, the Stem Cell Engineering Facility (SCEF) at the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) at TU Dresden shares in this recognition for its contributions to strengthening collaboration and standardization in stem cell research worldwide.
The award highlights the growing importance of core facilities in advancing the stem cell field. The CRTD SCEF, led by Dr. Katrin Neumann, plays a key role in the CorEuStem network by sharing reagents, protocols, and expertise with partner facilities across Europe.
“Within the network, we contribute to joint efforts to compare and improve experimental approaches,” says Dr. Neumann. “We also lead a working group focused on analyzing and optimizing CRISPR gene editing protocols for pluripotent stem cells.”
With stem cell technologies evolving rapidly, collaborative frameworks are more important than ever. “Networking is essential to establishing common criteria for the quality control of stem cell lines,” Dr. Neumann emphasizes.
The award highlights the importance of networks such as CorEuStem and Stem Cell COREdinates and increases their visibility, which in turn can help attract the third-party funding needed to sustain and expand these collaborative efforts.
