Welcome Dr. Natalia Rodríguez-Muela as new Research Group Lead at CRTD

The successful recruitment of this internationally renowned scientist is a result of the joint efforts of the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), the Center for Regenerative Therapies at TU Dresden (CRTD) and the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG). As research group leader, Dr. Natalia Rodríguez-Muela will work at both, the DZNE and the CRTD, with which she is co-affiliated. 

Before Dr. Natalia Rodríguez-Muela came to Dresden, she did research at Harvard University, Cambridge, USA, at the Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology and at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology of the Spanish National Research Council (CIB-CSIC) in Madrid, Spain. Her research focuses on neurodegeneration and the question why neurons of the same type react differently to neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Natalia Rodríguez-Muela has obtained an ERC Starting Grant for her research work as result of a highly competitive procedure. This 5-year grant is intended to further support her research work.

“I chose to come to Dresden because of its excellent and diverse scientific community, as well as the profound collaborative environment between the research groups that I could sense during my visits prior joining. Besides this, Dresden´s research network is equipped with all kinds of cutting-edge technology platforms, concentrated and in close proximity. I believe very few cities provide these extraordinary qualities for science, which attracted me to come here. I felt that my research would solely be limited by my own capabilities, because the environment could not be better”, says Dr. Natalia Rodríguez-Muela.
