Dual career in sports
Achieving top sporting performance requires an extraordinarily high time commitment from the athletes. Competitive sport is practiced in a phase of life in which the foundations for a later professional career are also laid. A cooperation agreement with the Olympic Training Center Saxony is intended not only to compensate for disadvantages for top athletes studying, but also to create reliable structures so that they can successfully complete their academic education at TU Dresden despite the high time demands of top-class sport.
As a partner university of elite sport, TU Dresden sees itself as having a responsibility to its students to design the study and framework conditions in the public interest in such a way that elite sporting commitment can be reconciled with an academic education.
