Dynamo cooperates with university sports center
SGD becomes part of a renowned group of partners of the DHSZ
At the beginning of the year, the sports community entered into a cooperation with the Dresden University Sports Center (DHSZ). Black & Yellow thus joins a circle of renowned partners in the Saxon sports landscape.
What Dynamo is to soccer in Elbflorenz, the DHSZ is to university sports in Dresden. With over 17,000 athletes and 2,500 sports and health courses a year, the DHSZ is the largest sports provider in Dresden.
Marko Schimke, Chairman of the Board of the Dresden University Sports Center: "As a Central Unit for all Dresden universities and the scientific institutions in and around Dresden, we offer all members the opportunity to engage in sporting activities before, during or after their studies or working hours. In these fast-paced and hectic times, we offer a wide range of exercise and sporting opportunities to maintain health and promote cross-institutional exchange."
The partnership that has now been entered into is based on the mutual promotion and support of the work of the respective clubs and institutions. With this cooperation, SGD and DHSZ are pursuing the goal of strengthening sport in Dresden and establishing the state capital as a vibrant and liveable metropolis beyond its borders. Examples of this include practical partnerships for final theses and research projects or scientific support for project-related topics by students or lecturers from the universities associated with the DHSZ.
David Fischer, Managing Director Communications at Dynamo, comments: "Our mission statement states it in the second sentence: Dynamo is Dresden, Dresden is Dynamo. The number of around 40,000 students shows how popular our city currently is for studying throughout Germany. We are all the more pleased about the cooperation with the DHSZ, which, like us, is trying to bring sport and exercise closer to the people living here. Thanks to synergy effects, we can now work together to strengthen the location even more in this respect."
The DHSZ's partners include many other top sports stakeholders in Dresden, such as the Saxony Olympic Training Center, HC Elbflorenz, the Dresden Titans, the Dresden Monarchs and VC Olympia Dresden. Dynamo fits seamlessly into this group.
Jan Gerken, Chancellor of TUD Dresden University of Technology: "As the central sponsor of the Dresden University Sports Center, it is our aim to offer students and staff a wide range of exercise options that not only promote health, but also encourage interdisciplinary exchange. The partnership with SGD, the largest club in the state capital, expands this network to include a strong sporting stakeholder in the city. I am delighted that we are working together to further develop university sport in Dresden, inspire students to participate in club sport and intensify the bridge between science and elite sport."
The cooperation agreement was signed on Friday, February 28, 2025, with a delegation from TUD Dresden University of Technology, the DHSZ and Dynamo's Managing Director David Fischer at the AOK PLUS Walter-Fritzsch-Akademie.
