Central universities
The Dresden University Sports Center has been a joint Central Unit of TU Dresden and HTW Dresden since 2021.
TUD Dresden University of Technology is one of the largest technical universities in Germany and one of the leading and most dynamic universities in Germany. With 17 faculties in five departments, it offers a wide range of 124 degree programs and covers a broad spectrum of research.
The TUD has been one of the eleven German Universities of Excellence since 2012.
On April 1, 2021, the university sports facilities of TU Dresden and HTW Dresden merged under the umbrella of the Dresden University Sports Center in order to offer attractive university sports for students from all Dresden universities. This merger generated further university collaborations and further advances the development of university sports in and around Dresden.
With around 5,000 students, the University of Applied Sciences Dresden (HTW) is the second largest university in the state capital. Founded in 1992, it is now one of the top German universities of applied sciences.
Teaching and research at HTW Dresden are closely linked and strongly practice-oriented.
