The new course system
The sports programme at the DHSZ is divided into three blocks of eight weeks each. This structure makes it possible for every sportsperson to join and leave sports courses at different times during the semester. You can decide whether you want to learn a sport all the way through or just have a taste, get back into it or try something completely different.
The structure is based on the semester schedule of the TU Dresden. The sports courses in blocks A and B each last 8 weeks, block C takes up the remaining time of the respective semester.
In the winter semester, Block A starts one week after the start of lectures to give all first-year students the chance to discover our sports programme. There is a break between Block A and B, so that missed appointments can be made up.
Block C is mainly for taster sessions and one-day events.
Beginners', intermediate and advanced courses start in each block, so that there are sports offers for every level. Athletes who want to train continuously will also find offers in the sports or training meetings, the duration of which usually comprises Block A and B.
Block A:
- Publication: in the last week of the previous semester and ongoing.
- Enrolment students & employees: in the second week of the current semester.
- Enrolment external students: one day after students & employees
- there is a 1-2 weeks "Christmas break" to catch up on dates and for Christmas tournaments
Block B (winter semester):
- Enrolment with password for continuation courses: in the 7th week of block A
- Enrolment for remaining places and newly starting courses: in the 8th week of Block A.
- Start: in January
Block B (summer semester):
- Enrolment with password for continuation courses: in the 7th week of Block A.
- Enrolment for remaining places and newly starting courses: in the 8th week of Block A.
- Start: directly after the 8th week of block A.
Block C:
- Enrolment with password for continuation courses: in the 7th week of Block B.
- Enrolment for remaining places and newly starting courses: in the 8th week of Block B.
