POSTDOC TALK | Hidden Figures 2.0: The Gender Publication Gap in the Age of AI
How is AI changing academic careers, and who is gaining visibility, receiving support, or being disadvantaged as a result?
As part of Postdoc Appreciation Week 2026, our Postdoc Talk invites you to critically examine the AI gender gap in research, teaching, and academic career paths.
You’ll learn how gender-based inequalities arise in the context of AI, what role digital visibility plays, and the consequences for equal opportunity and the gender publication gap.
The talk offers guidance, encourages reflection, and highlights concrete starting points for your own research practice, university teaching, and institutional change.
Our advisor is Dr. Sarah Müller-Sägebrecht, an industrial engineer and one of Germany’s leading experts on AI in higher education. She combines experience with AI tools in teaching and research, placing a special focus on diversity and early-career female researchers.
