Chair of Prof. Dr. Schanbacher
The work oft the chair is focussed on Roman law as well as civil law. On the one hand, the lectures given are on Roman legal history, European legal history and European private law (with certain emphasis on historical aspects). On the other hand there are lectures on civil law, commercial law (including the basics of private limited company law) family law and law of inheritance as well. In addition, courses on international law (also connected to Roman law) and civil law are offered, the latter’s main emphasis put on collateral law. The professor’s research work is on civil law (e.g. he collaborates on the Nomos Commentary about the German Civil Code) as well as on Roman law (e.g. publications on questions of detail concerning legal history and the work on a Textbook on Roman Private Law to which he contributes articles inter alia about lien and lex Falcidia).
