CIOFF® Cultural Conference
Delegates from all over the world met 23 October 2014 to mark the World Congress 2014 of the Conseil International des Organisations de Festivals de Folklore et d'Arts Traditionnels (CIOFF®) (www.cioff.org/) lasting several days in order to discuss the topic Awareness of Intangible Cultural Heritage - The role of ethnic communities (2014.cioff.de). Vice-president of the German Commission for UNESCO (DUK), Prof. Dr. Christoph Wulf, pointed out the perspective of UNESCO. This was followed by four current practical examples, namely the roles of - due to the venue - the Sorbian Ethnic Community, the First Nations in Canada, the Russian minority in Estonia and the most difficult situation of the Guaraní people in Paraguay. The event concluded with an intense informal exchange of ideas.
