The Chair's research focuses include general international law, international human rights protection, international economic law and European foreign trade law.
Dr. Klimke's core research areas are:
- International economic law, in particular WTO law, investment protection law, regional economic integration in Africa
- European and German foreign trade law, in particular so-called non-trade concerns in contractual and autonomous trade policy, supply chain due diligence law, trade in agricultural commodities and conflict minerals
- General international law, in particular the history of international law
- Human rights protection, in particular companies and human rights, women's rights, regional human rights protection in Africa
- Sustainability law and the greening of law, in particular the right to property
- Law and literature
- Academic communication and knowledge transfer, in particular as associate editor of the constitutional blog
