Efficient Algorithms for the Optimal Solution of Dynamic Lot Size Problems with Integrated Reprocessing
Due to the shortage of primary raw materials, high disposal costs, statutory requirements and increased environmental awareness, companies are increasingly taking advantage of the possibility of reprocessing used products. This manufacturing form is confronting companies with new challenges. Although dynamic batch size planning plays an important role in the success of a company, research has so far paid little attention to it in this context.
The study addresses this topic area by first presenting the theoretical foundations for solving such problems and then discussing selected practically oriented planning situations. The focus is on analyzing the problem structure and developing efficient algorithms for determining the best possible policy. The findings pinpointed in this study will thereby enable companies to manage batch formation at optimal cost.
