Our research follows the latest trends
Followed by the maxim of the unity of research and teaching, our research focuses on themes, which are also being covered by teaching. Generally, the chair differentiates between the two fundamental orientations of Operations Management and Operations Research.

Optimization of operational processes
The production planning and control is the center of research at the Chair of Industrial Management. The objective is not only to look at the actual production process but also to consider processes of disassembly, repair and recycling which gain more and more importance in a circular economy.
Due to the widely interconnection of performing factors it’s increasingly important not to stop the observation at the companies’ boundaries but to extend this observation to the value chain in which the company is integrated. Therefore, we also concentrate our focus on the different facets of Supply Chain Management.
Our research questions are meant to identify possible alternatives and optimization possibilities in order to use them accordingly for business objectives in the best way possible. Therefore, we often apply mathematical approaches of Operations Research in order to first model the planning task and to conclude operational guidelines, finally.
