Module “Ecological and Revitalizing Urban Transformation”

In the winter semester, the module “Ecological and Revitalizing Urban Transformation” will be offered as part of the master’s programme “Spatial Development and Natural Resource Management” at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences as well as in the programme “Ecosystem Services” at IHI Zittau. The module encompasses lectures and practically orientated seminars on the issue of urban transformation. The module will provide students with the ability to develop adequate solutions for problems at the level of the district and the entire city in and to convey these appropriately.

Module „Nature and Ecosystem Services in the City“

In the summer semester, the module “Nature and Ecosystem Services in the City” will be offered as part of the master’s programme “Ecosystem Services” at IHI Zittau. The module will include various perspectives, from different disciplines, on European cities and the history of their development. The focus will lie on urban life, urban nature, and urban ecosystem services from the sociological perspective. Conflicts of interest in the use of green spaces, questions of environmental compatibility, and quality of life in cities are also components of the module, and these will be researched and intensified in a study project.
