The Schasching Prize for the Promotion of the Scientific Dialogue between Business, Ethics and Religion was awarded on 10 November 2022 for the 14th time by the Federation of Austrian Industries (IV) in cooperation with the Catholic Private University Linz (KU) and the Forum of Christian Leaders (FCF) in Linz.
The prize is awarded every two years to students and young academics whose work addresses the relationship of business to ethics, religion or churches. The prize follows the ideas of the outstanding representative of Catholic social teaching Johannes Schasching, to do business in a way that is appropriate, humane and socially just.
As part of the award ceremony, representatives from business and church organisations addressed the question "With whom should we do business? Corporate moral responsibility in times of geopolitical crises" in a panel discussion moderated by Doris Helmberger-Fleckl, editor-in-chief of Furche.
Prof. Dr. Markus Scholz gave a lecture on the topic: "Corporate Diplomacy: The Relevance of Companies' Political Engagement in this New Era".
The panelists were: Prof. Markus Scholz, TU Dresden, Ass.-Prof. Dr. Lukas Kaelin, TU Linz, Maximilian Pointner, Board Director, Allgemeine Sparkasse OÖ Bank AG.
