Markus Scholz as a guest at the Business Council for Democracy
On January 13, Prof. Dr. Markus Scholz was invited to the Business Council for Democracy for the annual kick-off of the Hertie Book Club 2026.
After a reading from his new book "Wirtschaft mit Werten" (Economy with Values), which was published in November 2025, a discussion followed on the topic of corporate attitudes and populism.
The discussion with Susanne Nasr focused on questions such as "Why populism costs prosperity?" and why simplistic slogans (for example in migration and economic policy) can quickly become expensive for companies and locations.
The Business Council for Democracy formulated the message of the evening as "Attitude is an investment - in resilience, reputation and competitiveness".
