Markus Scholz as a guest on the ZEIT business podcast "Is this a bubble?"
Prof. Markus Scholz was featured in the latest episode of the ZEIT business podcast "Is this a bubble?" by Carla Neuhaus, Jens Tönnesmann and Zacharias Zacharakis. Together with the hosts, he spoke about current developments in the economy in relation to the AfD.
The starting point of the discussion was the decision by the Association of Family Businesses to lift its ban on contact with the party at short notice. A move that triggered a broad debate in business and the public and also had major consequences for the association.
The discussion focused on key questions: How should companies position themselves? What are the consequences of offering dialog or distancing themselves? And are companies possibly even obliged to show their political colors? Prof. Scholz made it clear that companies can certainly address the content of the AfD's demands and clearly communicate their position in letters or emails, for example. However, he considers public invitations to events to be problematic, as they give the party unwanted legitimacy.
