New publication in leading journal "Journal of Business Ethics"
A new scientific publication by Benedikt Kapteina, Philipp Richter, Maria Riegler and Markus Scholz was published in the Journal of Business Ethics on February 2, 2026.
The paper entitled "Why Do Companies Engage in the Creation of Private Governance? A Systematic Literature Review and Research Agenda" is dedicated to the question of why companies can actively contribute to the stabilization of liberal-democratic orders when these come under political and social pressure.
At the center of the analysis is the concept of corporate democratic action, which systematically records corporate commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, processes and values. The article combines theoretical considerations with current social developments and shows why democratic engagement by companies is not only normatively required, but also strategically relevant.
The publication thus makes an important contribution to international research at the interface of business ethics, corporate political responsibility and responsible management.
