Cytogenomics

Summary: The genomes of all higher organisms are organized in chromosomes. Understanding and analyzing chromosomes allows to better understand hallmark evolutionary events, such as hybridization, whole genome duplications, and large genomic re-arrangements. These events often lead to speciation and large evolutionary leaps. In this module, the students learn basic cytogenetics techniques for analyzing and understanding genome evolution.
