Diversity and Ecology of Animals

Summary: Contents of the module are taxonomy and large-scale systematics of vertebrates, selected insect groups and molluscs. The module covers basic collection and preparation methods for vertebrates and invertebrates as well as their identification using identification keys. Students gain familiarity with conservation-relevant aspects of species biology and ecology. For selected animal species relevant to nature conservation, they learn about their frequency and distribution and about the threats to them.
