Working Group Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services at TU Dresden
In line with the excellence strategy, TU Dresden (TUD) deals with sustainability aspects in teaching, research, operations, transfer, and student engagement. To further develop and establish sustainability-related initiatives, the Chair of Environmental Management cooperates with Green Office and student initiative Tuuwi to create a working group that promotes “Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services at TUD” and a questionnaire to find out the current knowledge and participation willingness of students in this field.
This project aims to implement biodiversity management and sustainable ecosystem services provision in the higher education sector, and the working group at the TUD will be a pioneer project. We plan to examine the key relevant issues regarding biodiversity and ecosystem services and their role for TUD and universities’ communities in accordance with the current version of the IPBES report. This working group executes research and practical projects where interested students can participate and engage themselves in activities related to preserving biodiversity and ecosystems as well as contributing to the sustainable provision of ecosystem services.
