Optimized Exciter Positioning for Flat Panel Loudspeakers at AES 146th Convention in Dublin
The Chair of Acoustic and Haptic Engineering presents the following paper on 2019-03-20 at the AES 146th Convention:
“Optimized Exciter Positioning Based on Acoustic Power of a Flat Panel Loudspeaker”
Loudspeaker panels, such as distributed mode loudspeakers (DML), are a promising alternative approach in loudspeaker design. However, the frequency response is mostly associated with higher deviations. The position of the excitation is one parameter to optimize the frequency response. An electro-mechanical-acoustical model is presented that enables the optimization of the exciter location, based on the response of the radiated sound power. The appropriated positioning and its excitation are discussed based on a single criterion and finally compared with the State of the Art method.
